"Created in collaboration with Merck, directed by Ani Simon-Kennedy and narrated by acclaimed actress and producer, Viola Davis, "A Touch of Sugar" attests to the resiliency of the human spirit and challenges the national perception of life with type 2 diabetes. Interviews with patients and their loved ones, as well as doctors, advocates and thought leaders in the space, explore the larger diabetes ecosystem at work and help to reinforce type 2 diabetes as an urgent public health issue that cannot be ignored, especially among underserved populations."
Umemba Health will host a virtual screening of the documentary "A Touch of Sugar" during National Diabetes Month (November) helping to bring awareness to the diabetes epidemic and the America's Diabetes Challenge.
America’s Diabetes Challenge: Get to Your Goals is a program from Merck that urges people with type 2 diabetes to work with their doctor to set and reach their A1C goal (A1C is the average blood glucose over the past 2-3 months). The program also encourages people to learn the signs and symptoms of low blood glucose, known as hypoglycemia and how to help reduce their risk.
At UMEMBA HEALTH, our goal is to improve the health of high-risk and vulnerable populations (many who are affected by diabetes) by improving access to high-quality education and support. We are pleased to have the opportunity to share this resource virtually. It is our hope that this documentary will create awareness and spark conversations about diabetes among our followers.
