International Women's Day

Today is International Women’s Day and today we are talking Women in Global Health!

Women in Global Health (WGH) is an organization built on a global movement that brings together all genders and backgrounds to achieve gender equality in global health leadership. They believe that everyone has the right to attain equal levels of participation in leadership and decision-making regardless of gender. WGH creates a platform for discussions and collaborative spaces for leadership, education, training, support and commitment from the global community, and they demand change for Gender Transformative Leadership.

In Episode 9 of the Umemba Health Academy Podcast, we will be speaking with Calbeth Alaribe, the Vice President of Healthcare Operations for Betal Home Care Services, LLC, and the Chapter Development Lead for Women in Global Health, an organization focused on achieving gender equality in healthcare leadership.

As the Chapter Development Lead/Coordinator, Calbeth provides strategic direction and planning in developing chapters worldwide and expanding the presence of WGH in the global health community. Since 2018, Calbeth has led efforts in growing the network by scaling up the chapter model from 5 chapters between 2015-2019, to 21 chapters by the end of 2020 (at least one chapter in all 4 continents and in each region in Africa). She also facilitates and manages collaborative relationships with stakeholders within global health organizations including the World Health Organization (WHO) and various other health ministries. Calbeth has a passion for developing sustainable and innovative programs that will solve complex global health issues and strengthen healthcare systems in low- and middle-income countries. She is passionate about the meaningful engagement of all people for sustainable global health.

Tune in to Episode 9 of the Umemba Health Academy Podcast to learn more about Calbeth's work with Women in Public Health. Who runs the world?! Girls!
